I’m kinda new to blogging. I’ve learned quite a lot in the last few months. So I feel that it’s time for me to share my knowledge and help the new bloggers out there. I’m sure that there is a lot of wanna be bloggers out there, the Blogosphere on the web is growing at an exponential rate so I hope all of you out there in cyberspace will find this information helpful.
First of all you have to get your blogspace. There a few places on the web where you can get your free blogspace. Before I moved to my current WordPress interface and onto my own domain I used to have Blogger blog. I would recommend Blogger for beginners. You can create your own free blog on there, the interface is quite easy to use and theres a lot of info on the web for people blogging on Blogger. You might find Bloggertricks useful as well. You can also get a free blog on WordPress.com. A little less customizable than Blogger, but also good for beginners and also free. Both of these services give you an option to move your blog onto its own domain, at a small cost. Before you start blogging, decide what you want to blog about and try to be as original as possible. Also try not to make too any spelling mistakes on your posts or blog in general. Also make sure your tags are relevant to what you are writing about.
Once you have your first post up and running, social bookmarking is important, this gets your posts out there and onto the web. Try and submit your blog onto as many social bookmarking sites as possible. I found the Add This button quite useful. This helps you to submit your blog posts onto a few different blogging directories, social bookmarking websites and social networking websites. The basically lets cyberspace know that you’ve posted something on the web and makes it accessable & searchable via search engines. This video I found on Youtube was extremely helpful and explains simply & exactly what social bookmarking is, although it only covers one of the social bookmarking sites out there. It is fittingly titled ‘Social Bookmarking in Plain English’
To generate an income on your blog will take time. There are a few free affiliate programs you can sign up for. I’m aware of 2 of them, but I’m sure there are more.
Google’s AdSense is also very useful. This will place adverts relevant to your topics on your blog.
I’ve been an Internet user and chatter for the past 11-12 years. In the last few months I’ve given a my opinion on a few issues that bug me, expressed myself and told cyberspace what I like and what I don’t like. This has been extremely liberating for me and it’s addictive. I hope it will be for you too.
