The Book of Eli is an upcoming post-apocalyptic action movie directed by the Hughes brothers (who also directed Drag Me to Hell and Dead Presidents). The film stars Denzel Washington (who needs no introduction having starred in films like Fallen, John Q, American Gangster and Training Day), Gary Oldman (who also doesn’t need introduction having starred in films like The Fifth Element, The Professional) and Mila Kunis (famous for her roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Max Payne on the big screen and for her role in That 70′s Show and voice talents for Family Guy on television). Filming was done in New Mexico in the United States. The film is scheduled to be released in January 2010 in the US (hopefully at the same time in South Africa). The film is about a lone man fighting his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. In my opinion The Book of Eli could be seen as a movie set in more than one of the zones in the video game Fallout. The film is rumoured to have a budget of about $80 million. Ray Stevenson, Jennifer Beals and Frances de la Tour will also star in The Book of Eli. This movie has potential to be one of the best films of 2010 (but I could be wrong). I’m actually kinda sick of post-apocalyptic movies. Hollywood really needs fresh ideas (in my opinion).
