aKING ft. Khayelitsha Black Mambaso – In the Twilight

Earlier this year I saw aKING live at Oppikoppi 2009 Smoorverlief. I also saw them live a few months ago in Hatfield Square in Pretoria. These South African rockers are definately one of the best acts in the country, in my opinion. For those who didn’t know already Laudo Liebenberg, Hunter Kennedy (Fokofpolisiekar and Die Heuwels Fantasties), Hennie Van Halen and Jaco “Snakehead” Venter (Fokofpolisiekar) are the members of aKING. In the Twilight was released on the EP of the same name earlier in 2009 before the release of their second studio album Against All Odds. The In the Twilight EP was done in collaboration with Ghetto Vibrations, Khayelitsha United Mambaso and the Thokozani Brothers. The band was nominated for Best Video for the MK Video Awards 2009, Best Alternative Act for the MTV Africa (MAMA) Awards 2009, Best Music Video for In the Twilight for the MK Video awards 2010 and nominated for Best Collaboration for In the Twilight for MK Awards 2010. The video for In the Twilight was also number 1 on the MK Top 10. aKING are touring around South Africa this festive season. Catch them in a city / town near you, they’re definately one of the best live acts around.
