Over the last 3 years Music fans in the Western Cape have enjoyed RAMfest, the biggest Alternative Music Festival in the province. This year RAMFest IV will be held at Nekkies Holiday Resort, Worcester in the Western Cape between the 26th and 28th of February. For the 2010 festival Audiomatik Events (the organizers of the event) have secured international acts Pendulum (from Australia) and Johnny Foreigner (from the United Kingdom) for the event. Local acts like Fokofpolisiekar, Kidofdoom, The Dirty Skirts, The Narrow, Yesterday’s Pupil, Jack Parow, Desmond and the Tutus, Taxi Violence, Die Heuwels Fantasties, LARK and BOO! have been named as well. Over the years RAMfest has established itself as one of the must-attend festivals on the Western Cape Music festival calendar. Judging by the line-up, music fans in the Western Cape will not be disappointed. Tickets are available nationwide at Computicket. A 3 day weekend pass costs R350 at outlets or R400 at door, a 2 day Saturday / Sunday costs R350 and R350 at the door and a 1 day Sunday pass costs R100 (a the door only). Gates will be open on 25 February between 08:00-20:00 (for presale ticket holders only). Gates will open on Friday 26 February at 08h00. On Sunday 27 February gates will open at 08:00.

Because of it’s popularity in the Western Cape, RAMfest has teamed up with Oppikoppi SA to bring the festival to the Northern part of South Africa. In 2010, for the first time ever, RAMfest will have a Johannesburg leg. This leg of RAMfest will be held on the 6th of March at Emmerentia Dam. Unfortunately this will be a 1 day festival only, but that doesn’t mean that there will be less talent on display. Wrestlerish, The Sick-Leaves, Isochronous, aKING, The Narrow, Jack Parow, Die Heuwels Fantasties, BOO!, LARK and Pendulum will make up the line-up for the 6th of March. I’m gonna try very hard NOT to miss this one. It’s not that far from my native Pretoria. Tickets for the Johannesburg leg of RAMfest can be obtained from Computicket for R100. Tickets will be R150 at the door (for the impulsive ones out there). Gates at 12h00.
