Canadian born actor William Shatner is probably best known for his role as Captain Kirk on the Science Fiction TV series Star Trek. But he’s also famous for being the presenter on Rescue 911 and his role as Denny Crane on the television series Boston Legal (between 2004 and 2008). William Shatner is turning 79 this year. Not many people know that he’s also capable of singing as well. Common People was originally done by British band Pulp back in 1995. This is one of the best cover versions I’ve ever heard. It was released on William Shatner’s 2nd Studio Album Has Been which was released in 2004. British Musician Joe Jackson makes an appearance on this song. I find it fascinating that a person of William Shatner’s age (he was 73 when this was released) could record a song like this. Thanks to a Pretoria Rock radio station this song has grown on me. I’m hoping this song will grow on you as well.
