Koldproduk is a hip-hop group from Johannesburg, South Africa (which was formed in 2005). Straatligkinders are a rock group from Potchefstroom, South Africa (formed in 2006). Desvalido has been nominated for Best Colab and Best Campus Hit for the 2010 MK Awards. It’s the first time in the history of South African music that a hip-hop outfit has collaborated with a Afrikaans rock band to produce a song. I must admit that it took a while for this song to grow on me. This is probably because Desvalido has received plenty of airplay on the local Pretoria radio station Tuks FM (the only Rock radio station in South Africa) and has also featured regularly on the South African music television station MK. Straatligkinders are also 2010 MK Award Nominees in the Best Group category. Desvalido does face some competition from Afrikaans Electro outfit Die Heuwels Fantasties in the Best Colab and Best Campus Hit categories though. Only time will tell who will be victorious at the 2010 MK Awards.
