In 2006 my dad and I went to watch the Springboks take on New Zealand at Loftus Versfeld in the Tri Nations. It was my 3rd time at an international rugby test match and the 2nd time I attended a Tri Nations test. Unfortunately South Africa lost the match. New Zealand scored 45 points and the Springboks only managed to score 26. With this loss they were effectively out of the 2006 Tri Nations tournament. The Springboks managed to restore some dignity a week later, beating New Zealand by 21 points to 20 at Royal Bafokeng stadium in Rustenburg (a match I also attended). The Springboks have been struggling in the 2010 Tri Nations, let’s hope they can make a comeback when they face New Zealand once and the Wallabies twice at home in a few weeks time.
