2012 Golden Globe Award Winners

2011 was an interesting year in television and film indeed. Awards season kicked off last night (the 15th of January 2012) – the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards winners were officially named.  The event took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California in the United States. The show was hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais.

For those of you who did not know, the Golden Globe Award is an accolade bestowed by the members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). The Golden Globe Awards recognize excellence in film and television (both in the USA and foreign). The 1st Golden Globe Awards were held in January 1944 at the 20th Century Fox studios in Los Angeles.

To be honest with you, I haven’t heard or seen most of the TV shows / movies in this list. I am glad about the awards that were given to Game of Thrones and American Horror Story – 2 of my favorite shows on television at the moment. If you ask me, this year’s winners features a bunch of established Hollywood actors and not a lot of newcomers. Look through the list and you’ll see what I mean. Let’s hope this years list of Academy Awards winners is just as interesting.
