3 Memorable Quotes from Rock Stars

Today I’m featuring 3 Memorable Quotes from Rock Stars. “Why?” you ask. Well, I kinda feel like an ass. I forgot that yesterday was the day that Jimi Hendrix (who was probably the greatest electric guitarist of all times) died in 1970 in London.

I trust that I can still redeem myself by featuring these 3 Memorable Quotes from Rock Stars today and I also trust that you’ll find these words either humorous, interesting, inspiring or motivational.

Kurt Cobain (lead singer of Nirvana): In case you did not know, Kurt Cobain died in 1994 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. This was after the media turned him into “a spokesman for a generation” and he could not handle being famous. He suffered from depression and was a severe heroin addict before he died.

Nirvana is one of the reasons that I’m a rock music fan today. If it wasn’t for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” I would probably still be listening to really crappy 1990s techno.  It’s hard to believe that Nirvana have sold over 75 million records worldwide.

They were definitely one of the most influential acts from the 1990s. Their breakout album Nevermind has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. These words from Kurt Cobain were chosen as one of the Memorable Quotes from Rock Stars for today

Frank Zappa: In case you did not know, Frank Zappa was friggin’ talented. He was a composer, singer-songwriter, electric guitarist, recording engineer, record producer and film director. He was in the business for more than 30 years.  He was pretty weird though. Just to give you an idea, he named his kids Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen. Sadly he died of prostate cancer in 1993.

I must say that I’m not familiar with Frank Zappa’s music, but I’d like to get more familiar with it. It sounds like he was a very intriguing guy.  Before he passed away, he had this to say about Rock Journalism.  These words were also chosen as one of the Memorable Quotes from Rock Stars for today

Jimi Hendrix: The legend that was Jimi Hendrix died in 1970 in London. He had choked on his own vomit after over indulging some red wine. Besides being an infamous electric guitarist, he’s also famous for torching a few guitars on stage.

I was completely blown away when I first heard “All Along The Watchtower”, “Purple Haze” and “Voodoo Chile” and I have been a fan ever since. In case you didn’t know, Jimi Hendrix’s guitar of choice was the Fender Stratocaster and he never had any guitar lessons in his life. He even played some of the cords with his teeth (yes, that’s how good he was). Like Kurt Cobain (who is also a fellow member of the so-called 27 club) he died before his time.

He was well-known as a drug users (especially weed an LSD) but he had some interesting things to say before he kicked the bucket. I almost consider him as a musically and psychedelically enhanced poet. These words from Jimi Hendrix were also chosen as one of the Memorable Quotes from Rock Stars for today

There you go. I hope that I have redeemed myself with these 3 Memorable Quotes from Rock Stars. I promise I will not forget the day that Jimi Hendrix’s died again.
