Mark my words, 2018 will be a great year for television. Not only will this year featured new seasons of shows like Narcos, Stranger Things, The Handmaid’s Tale and Westworld, but there are some really great new shows to look forward to.
Here are 4 TV Shows to look forward to in 2018
Krypton: This Science Fiction show is a Superman Prequel and will premiere on the Syfy network in March 2018. Krypton will follow Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El; whose family, the House of El, has been ostracized and shamed. Seg-El fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
I’m very curious to see how this will pan out and if it will live up to expectations. Krypton will feature performances by Cameron Cuffe, Georgina Campbell, Ian McElhinney,
Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Shaun Sipos and
Castle Rock: This series (which is based on stories by Stephen King) was created by JJ Abrams and will make its debut on Hulu in 2018. No release date has been confirmed yet. This series will feature performances by Melanie Lynskey, Andre Holland, Jane Levy, Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Glenn and Terry O’Quinn.
Judging by the trailer below, the series will feature characters from It, Dolores Claiborne, Needful Things, ‘Salem’s Lot, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, Dreamcatcher, Night Shift, The Green Mile, Misery, Hearts in Atlantis, The Shining, The Mangler, Four Past Midnight, Different Seasons, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, and The Night Flier. The Stephen King fan inside me is definitely excited about this.
Altered Carbon: This upcoming science fiction television series is created by Laeta Kalogridis and based on the 2002 novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan. It will make its debut on Netflix in February 2018.
Altered Carbon will feature performances by Joel Kinnaman, Renée Elise Goldsberry, James Purefoy, Martha Higareda, Dichen Lachman, Leonardo Nam, Chris Connor, Ato Essandoh and Trieu Tran. The show is set in a future where consciousness is digitized and stored in cortical stacks implanted in the spine, allowing humans to survive physical death by having their memories and consciousness “re-sleeved” into new bodies. The Science Fiction fan inside me is definitely excited to watch this show.
Counterpart: In this Sci-fi / Thriller series a UN employee discovers the agency he works for is hiding a gateway to a parallel dimension. The first episode of this series already aired on the Starz network on the 10th of December 2017, but the rest of the episodes will only air in January and since it will probably only make its way to SA’s TV screens in 2018, this qualifies as an upcoming show.
2 seasons have already been ordered for this show which features performances by J.K. Simmons, Olivia Williams, Harry Lloyd, Sara Serraiocco, Ulrich Thomsen, Mido Hamada, Bernhard Forcher, Jamie Bamber, Karim Saleh, Nazanin Boniadi and Nicholas Pinnock. I’m curious to see how this pans out. This just might be binge-worthy.
