About an hour ago my heart nearly stopped beating. No less than five international headliners have been announced for RAMFest 2014. I’m pretty sure you will be stoked when you see who is going to be performing in sunny South Africa next year! The 2014 editions of RAMFest Johannesburg and RAMFest Cape Town will be taking place from the 6th to the 9th of March next year.
Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro will be performing at RAMFest 2014. They have released six studio albums. Three of them (Puzzle, Only Revolutions and Opposites) reached the top five in the UK Albums Chart. They also claimed their first number one album in the UK albums chart with Opposites. I’m extremely stoked to see these okes live. I’ve watched tons of clips of them performing on YouTube and I’ve heard good things from people who have seen them live at festivals in Europe.
American Metalcore band Killswitch Engage will also be performing at RAMFest 2014. They hail from Massachusetts and have also released six studio albums. Their music mixes “crushing” riffs, double bass drum patterns, power chords, dual-guitar harmonies, often punctuated with pinch harmonic squeals in their music and breakdowns that can be expected from the metalcore genre. Their music is influenced bygothenburg metal scene and thrash metal.
Foals (an Indie rock band from Oxford, England in the UK) will also be performing at RAMFest 2014. They have released 3 studio albums since 2008. The band has been nominated for 6 NME awards over the last few years. A friend who has seen them perform in Brisbane, Australia last year was completely blown away by their live performance. I’m thinking that South African audiences should prepare themselves for the awesomeness that is coming.
American heavy metal band Trivium have also been confirmed for RAMFest 2014. They hail from Orlando, Florida and have been around since 2000. To date Trivium have released five studio albums and have sold more than a million albums globally. They are referred to multiple heavy metal styles such as metalcore, thrash metal, progressive metal, groove metal and death metal, so better have your earplugs ready for next year’s festival.
Austrian drum & duo Camo and Krooked have also been confirmed for RAMFest 2014. They will be headlining the electronic stage. To date the duo have released four studio albums since they started out in 2007. In 2011 they were awarded with the Best Producer title at the 2011 Drum and Bass Arena Awards. Their music also contains elements of liquid funk, dubstep and drumstep. I’m not a huge fan of electro, but I’m pretty sure that many people are stoked to see them perform in South Africa next year.
Well, there you have it. Who are you most stoked to see live at RAMFest 2014? Biffy Clyro, Killswitch Engage, Foals, Trivium or Camo & Krooked? Leave a comment and let me know. Feedback is appreciated and welcome here. Tickets to RAMFest 2014 are available on plankton.mobi, so get your arse in gear now before they sell out!
