Last week Sunday I made my way to the National Botanical Gardens in Pretoria for an awesome display of local music. Dance You’re On Fire, 7th Son and the Graeme Watkins Project played on the day. Cape Town based band 7th Son made their way onto the stage after Dance You’re On Fire started the day’s proceedings.
For those of you who did not know, 7th Son have been around since 2000. They’ve actually released 3 studio albums since 2006: Fire In The Rain, They Got Lucky and These Days. To date 7th Son has been seen or heard on/in: MTV Australia, MTV Canada, 5 FM, SABC, MNET Super Sport, East Coast Radio, ETV, FHM, SL magazine, Blunt magazine, Salt Water girl, BPM, LMG, RSG, Good Hope FM, Tuks FM, UCT radio, MFM, Bush Radio, KFM, Levi’s Magazine, Stage magazine, Zig-Zag as well as publications in local newspapers around the country. They’ve also played at almost every major festival in the country, including Rocking the Daisies, Up The Creek, Splashy Fen and Oppikoppi.
These reggae rockers impressed the Pretoria crowd with their skills on Sunday. Having seem them live once before at Arcade Empire I expected nothing less from them. One gets the idea that they’re not “just another rock band from Cape Town” if you see them live. It’s not wonder that Nic Gaud (who is on vocals and guitar for 7th Son) is also a member aspiring new South African rock act Goodnight Wembley. I snapped this photo of 7th Son performing on stage at the National Botanical Gardens and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 21st of July 2012.
