A Quick Review of RAMFest 2013 Johannesburg from a Competition Winner
RAMFest 2013 Johannesburg was a blast. I’m pretty sure that many of you will agree with me. I still have to post my full review and photos of this year’s festival, but luckily there was a lucky ticket winner who attended as well. Katherine Scott send me this short story about her experience of the festival this year.
We weren’t going to be able to go to RAMfest 2013 Johannesburg if it wasn’t for Running Wolf’s Rant. My hubbie and I have three kids and stuff is expensive these days, you know? So we decided to enter some competitions and see what happens… if we don’t win, it’s not meant to be. And then, we won! HELL YEAH!
We live around the corner from Riversands Farm, so we didn’t feel it necessary to sleep in the rain and cold when we’ve got an awesome bed and bath a few minutes away. We got there at about 3pm on Saturday – awesome weather, awesome vibe, it felt like Oppikoppi in Jozi! Looking around at all the metalheads and punk rockers, I was freaking out about putting on my Pink “I’m a Belieber” T-shirt. I was sure that a bitch slap had my name on it, but put in on all the same. No one gave a shit. Why would they? They were all just there to have fun, get drunk and watch awesome bands. The epic-ness began…
Top mentions for the day – Short Straw – first time I’d seen them and they were just plain rad. Funky, beach styles that made me shake my ass as much as it would allow. Pendulum was a trip, Bring Me The Horizon were a tad mind-blowing. Was never a fan and only listened to their music a couple times. What I got from their show was POWER! They melted faces and blew speakers… definitely knew how to get the crowd going. Was rad to see Rise Against, but their sound was a little shit… living with a music producer makes you picky 🙂 Still, it was incredibly awesome to sing along to classic punk rock songs. THANK YOU HENNO for making it all possible!
It sounds like Katherine and her hubby had a blast at RAMFest 2013 Johannesburg. Sadly I did not bump into her at the festival, but at least I got to see a picture of her Belieber t-shirt.
