On the 5th of November 2011 I made my way to Arcade Empire in Pretoria East to catch Aidan Martin, The Black Cat Bones and The Smoking Mojos performing. The show was epically called “The Gunpowder Plot” echoing the memory of Guy Fawkes (who tried to blow up the British parliament a few hundred years ago). After watching The Black Cat Bones perform it was the turn of future rock ‘n roll legends The Aidan Martin Band. The Aidan Martin Band is a blues rock trio comprising of Aidan Martin on guitar, mandolin and vocals, David Georgiades on drums and Benjamin Georgiades on bass guitar. According to their Facebook Page “Aidan Martin has a peculiar command of the guitar: you’d think there is a ghost hand playing those melodious lead guitar parts over mad, intricate strumming.” And you know what? It’s absolutely true. Aidan Martin plays the lead guitar with all his heart and soul – in true old school rock ‘n roll tradition. His voice is unique, don’t think there’s anyone that sounds like him in the SA Music industry. I reckon these okes will be one of the bands to watch in 2012 – mark my words. I snapped this photo of the Aidan Martin Band on stage at Arcade Empire on that night and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 27th of January 2012.
Yesterday a photo featuring the Northern Lights in Norway in 2012 was the Daily Cool Photo, feel free to check it out.
