Last week Saturday I made my way to Cafe Barcelona in Pretoria East. For those of you who did not know, it’s one of the oldest live music venues in the capital city. The evening’s line-up included Aidan Martin, The Howlin’ Shibanski and Southern Gypsey Queen (featuring Albert Frost). The first act of the evening was Aidan Martin. He blew the Cafe Barcelona faithful away with his old school 1970s Led Zeppelin-like riffs and loud guitar solos. My good @LadyRockerSA was completely blown away by this man and his band. At one stage she told me “My mond hang oop!”. And she wasn’t faking it (just so you know).
Aidan Martin was recently confirmed for the Oppikoppi Sweet Thing festival in August 2012. He’s also playing at the new Arcade Empire (at 265 Highway Street) with Tidal Waves on the 27th of July 2012. If you haven’t seen this bloke and his band live yet, get your butt down to one of these gigs and check him out. I snapped this photo of Aidan Martin and his band at Cafe Barcelona on Saturday night and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 17th of July 2012.
Yesterday a photo featuring KONGOS on stage @ Arcade Empire was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out. Watch this space for daily updates on this blog in the Photography and Babes category.
