Allied Liberation of Paris in World War 2
Paris was under Nazi occupation during World War 2 (from 1940 to 1944). After the D-Day landing at Normandy (on the 6th of June 1944) the Allied Forces fought their way to Paris to liberate the city. The liberation of Paris started on the 18th of August 1944 and ended on the 25th of August 1944. This photo was taken during the period and has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 5th of December 2010.
