Baghdad is the largest and capital city of Iraq (in the Middle East). The city’s population is estimated at more than 6.5 million. It’s one of the oldest cities in the world. Baghdad was founded in 762 AD. During the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 the city was severely bombarded. Since then the city has been under American occupation. In 2007 the city was split into 4 different zones to curb sectarian violence. This photo of the Baghdad skyline has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 21st of August 2010.
