In August 2012 I made my way to Oppikoppi Sweet Thing (on the farm near Northam in Limpopo). It’s the perfect spot on Earth to view something that I’ve come to call a Beer Tree.
Now, hold your horses, before you think that a Beer Tree is actually a tree that you plant and gives your beer when it’s flowers boom, think again and ask yourself if that sounds biologically possible. Sadly there isn’t a tree like that, but if you know someone who is genetically engineering something like that, let me know please – I’d like to have my own Beer Tree in my back yard.
So, if this isn’t a tree that you can plant, what is it then? Well, it’s plain and simple. A beer tree is born once you find a way to decorate it with your empty cans or bottles. Most okes just like sticking their empty beer cans into thorny branches (very old school and common at Oppikoppi festival). Some okes like to go the extra mile though (like the okes in today’s Daily Cool Photo).
So, what do you think of this Beer Tree? Leave a comment on this post and let me know. Maybe you think that you can do better at next year’s Oppikoppi? Who knows?
Yesterday a photo featuring the Crowd at Electric Zoo Festival in 2012 was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out.
