Brace yourself for the 2017 edition of Emalyth Arts Expo
The ninth annual Emalyth Arts Expo will take place at Wolmer Bush Lounge in Pretoria North from the 27th to the 28th of January. The festival features some of the best alternative bands from across South Africa. This year’s headliners include Zombies Ate My Girlfriend, Boargazm, Vulvodynia, Devilspeak and Mezzanine floor.
Along with a wide variety of bands, as the name implies, the festival will also host a visual arts exhibition by several popular South African alternative artists and a large stall market where you can source weird and wonderful accessories and clothing.
Here’s a full list of artists who are performing at this year’s Emalyth Arts Expo:
Boargazm, Zombies ate my Girlfriend, Vulvodynia, Mezzanine Floor, DevilSpeak, Riddlebreak, Deadline, After Robot, PitVirus, Jonathan Peyper, Thundermerwe, Disarmageddon, Raptorbaby, No Comply, Nerve Zero, FAOT, Resurrection of Fetal Remains, Polar Dust, System of a Down Tribute Band, Lesuth, The Color Blew, Cluster Flux, Free X Money, Riot Control & Undertone.
There is ample camping ground for Friday and Saturday night, as well as food stalls and a well-stocked bar. Cards are accepted at the bar, but do bring cash to pay your entrance fee and buy stuff at the stalls. The Emalyth Arts Expo is an all-ages event, with a popular Fight-A- Knight stand, where you can get kitted out in medieval armor and challenge a knight to a dual!
Take note that no outside booze will be allowed in the entertainment area. Tickets costs R300 per person for the full weekend, including camping and they are available at the gate. Gates open at 4 PM on Friday the 27th of January, but campers are welcome to arrive earlier. For more info, check out the Event Page on Facebook.
