Brace Yourself! On Sunday the 24th of March 2013 Park Acoustics in association with Jack Daniel’s presents Gazelle, The December Streets, Ryno Velvet, Moving House, Shaun Jacobs and much more. Gates open at 10 AM on the day.
I have to admit that I’m not familiar with Ryno Velvet, Shaun Jacobs and Moving House, but I’m always game for discovering new and exciting SA Music. From what I could gather, Ryno Velvet is a rock artist from Cape Town, Shaun Jacobs is a modelic rock artist from Johannesburg and Moving House is an Alternative / Pop/ Electro outfit comprised of Andre Montgomery Piennaar (Ashtray Electric) and Rob Davidson and from Cape Town.
The December Streets have been taking SA Music by storm since late 2010. They won the KFC Sessions contest in that year and have been making waves in the musical landscape since then. These Pretoria boys know how to get a party started and they’re young enough to be around for many years to come.
Gazelle needs no introduction. This unique outfit featuring Xander Ferreira and DJ Invizable have been around since 2008. Their modern traditional crossover genre called Limpop has left a permanent mark on the SA Music Scene. They are also renowned for their awesome live performances. If you have not seem them live take it from me: You won’t be disappointed.
As usual Hotbox Express will be offering a bus shuttle service during the day. The departure station is at the bottom of the hill at the Voortrekker Monument picnic parking area. The shuttle will leave every 10 minutes from 10 AM to 3 PM. It will break for 40 min and will start again at 15:40 for the descent. The last bus down the hill will be at 19:00.
The arts and culture initiative with the aim to provide all kinds of creative’s with a platform to feature their art, design, photography, graffiti, music, film, animation, poetry, dance, fashion, architecture and anything else that qualifies as creative and original will also be at Park Acoustics again. Makes sure that you check out the PostBox stand on the day.
Due to space constraints and health & safety to others the organizers of Park Acoustics had to stop people from bringing in their own braai, gas and potjie equipment to the venue. Park Acoustics and Braaiboy joined forces a few months ago and now provide attendees with a professional braai facility all under the watchful eye of Braaiboy. He will make sure that the fire is always hot, offer braaing tips and some braai recipes. Bring some meat along and have some fun in the sun with Braaiboy. He’s been braai-ing every day for almost four years, so he knows what he’s doing.
And let’s not forget about Sunset Comedy Stage at Park Acoustics. Laughing your arse off is an awesome way to end a fun day in the sun. This edition will feature Nina Hastie, Donovan Goliath and Jason Goliath.
Take a look at the video (what was posted on Wat Kyk Jy) about the last edition of Park Acoustics (to give you an idea of the vibe):
Tickets to this edition of Park Acoustics cost R70 online (via the Park Acoustics website) or R80 at the gate. Children under 6 can enter for free. It will also cost you R10 per vehicle to enter the Voortekker Monument Nature Reserve on the day. There will be bar facilities and food stalls available on the day.
