Brace yourself for the third edition of Otterlake Easter Festival
Great news! The third edition of Otterlake Easter Festival has been announced and it will take place from the 3rd to the 5th of April 2015. This amazing musical experience is brought to you by Moonshine Productions in association with STRAB.
Otterlake Easter Festival is Gauteng’s premier Easter weekend festival. This 3-day event is held in a serene bush-veld setting and its aim is raising awareness and funds for a worthy cause. Not only do you get to see 30 of South Africa’s top artists perform, but you also get to dance, swim, fish, laugh and love life for the entire Easter Weekend. Sounds like a pretty schweet deal if you ask me.
For the thirsty there will be two main bars and a beer garden. For the hungry there will be a variety of tasty food stalls and for the shopper in you a bunch of interesting curio stalls will also be available. There will also be clean toilets, hot showers, a mobile ATM and wood/ice for sale. What more can you ask for?
The line-up for this year’s festival is absolutely amazing: Piet Botha, Jaco van Der Merwe (Bittereinder), Avade, Francois van Coke, The Black Cat Bones, Tidal Waves, Naming James, Akkedis, Hoot ‘n Anny, Gareth Wilson (Southern Gypsey Queen / Coelacanth), Monkeys in Boots, Hardball, Shotgun Tori, The Fake Leather Blues Band, Tuin, Feed the Wolf, Crystal Park, The Pirates, Pedro Barbosa (Mrs B / The Barbosa Experience), State Society, Meesh-Mash, Mountain Thief, Bacchus Nel & Empire of Desire have been confirmed for the event.
An extra highlight of this festival is the traditional 10 meter Easter Bonfire to celebrate coming together and chasing away of evil spirits. Not only will you enjoying an experience of a lifetime, but you will also be contributing to a very worthy cause. A percentage of ticket sales will be donated to Unite Against Poaching to assist in their fight to keep our country’s rhinos safe.
Live music starts starts at 3 PM and finishes at 12 PM from Friday to Sunday. Gates open daily at 10 AM and day visitors are more than welcome. Tickets cost only R370 for the whole weekend and limited tickets will be available at the gate for R400. Day passes will be available at R150. Click here to buy tickets online.
Directions: The festival grounds are located about 50 km from Pretoria CBD at plot 26 Kameelfontein Rd, in Roodeplaat. Take the N1 North towards Polokwane. Take the Zambezi / Sefako Makgatho offramp towards Cullinan. After 8 km turn left onto Kameelfontein Road (Not Kameeldrift). Continue with Kameelfontein Road for +/- 8 km passing Sable Hills and Kameelfontein Estates. Just past the Roodeplaat River, turn right onto the Bynestpoort dirt road. Continue on the dirt road for +/- 3 km, then turn right at the yellow Otterlake German Restaurant sign. Continue on this road until you reach your destination.
It will be the third time that I make my way to this epic tiny festival and I hope to see you all there. If you really like local music, put on your big boy shoes and buy your ticket. You won’t be disappointed.
