Close up shot of Newtown Knife Gang @ RAMFest 2012 Johannesburg
So, on Saturday @BaasDeBeer and I made our way to RAMFest 2012 Johannesburg at Riversands Farm (as you probably know by now if you are a regular reader of my blog). The first band to perform on the day were Newtown Knife Gang. These Johannesburg rockers have been making waves in the SA Music industry over the last year. In the past year the band has been writing and producing their repertoire and have secured a record deal with Electromode (home to Die Heuwels Fantasties and Jack Parow amongst others) and signed with over 40 online music stores. They’ve secured themselves a comfortable place in the future of SA rock. I saw them perform for the first time on Saturday and I was thoroughly impressed by their fairly unique blend of rock. If you ask me Newtown Knife Gang could easily become SA’s next musical export. Their singles “Listen”, “Read Between the Lines”, “Taste Goodbye” and “To be Honest” have already been earmarked for success. They’ve also been getting quite a bit of airplay on South Africa’s only rock station, Tuks FM. I snapped this close up photo of Spencer Martin (Newtown Knife Gang’s lead vocalist) and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 12th of March 2012.
Yesterday a photo featuring the Crowd at Newtown Knife Gang Set @ RAMFest 2012 Johannesburg was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out.
