At the end of June, the organizers of Converse Get Out Of The Garage announced the 10 finalists who will be battling it out for the most votes to win the ultimate prize. In case you were wondering, the finalists for this year’s competition are Early Hours, Impande Core, Raheem Kemet, Kdavine, Strike in Berlin, Manny Walters, Jovistash, The Audinarys, Emma Hearne and Gugu Gumede.
Voting closes on the 3rd of August, so you still have some time to cast your vote in this glorious contest, so visit this link or this link NOW to have your say in Converse Get Out Of The Garage 2014.
The winner will be announced on the 5th of August. The winner will be heading off to New York City to record a track with Rubber Tracks, followed by more globetrotting to perform LIVE in Europe. In case you did not read my first post on this subject, Rubber Tracks is a state-of-the-art recording studio in Brooklyn. Through Rubber Tracks, Converse is giving back to the creative community that has embraced the brand throughout its 105 year history.
If you’re not familiar with some of these artists, then check them out at one of the gigs that will be held at Open Room Studios in Greenside, Johannesburg on the 31st of July and the 1st of August (this coming weekend).
On Friday night you can watch Emma Hearne, The Audinarys, Kdavine and Strike in Berlin perform and on Saturday night you can watch Gugu Gumede, Early Hours, Manny Walters, Jovislash and Impande Core perform. Both events start at 7 PM sharp, so make sure that you get their early-ish to prepare yourself for some excellent local live music.
