Crowd at Die Heuwels Fantasties CD Launch in Hatfield Square

Last night I made my way to Hatfield Square to catch Afrikaans electro group Die Heuwels Fantasties CD Launch concert. The square was busier than usual. There was easily more than 5,000 people in the square. The crowd were very energetic and jovial, singing along loudly to almost every song that Die Heuwels Fantasties performed. Being almost right in front of the stage and hearing the whole of Hatfield Square sing along to songs like Heel Te Mal (a song of their newly released Wilder as Die Wildtuin album), Leja (the song that basically got me hooked on them) and Klein Tambotieboom (which seems to be almost every Die Heuwels Fantasties fan’s favorite song) almost gave me goosebumps. The atmosphere in Hatfield Square was just plain awesome, no doubt about it. They are definitely one of the best live acts in South Africa (in my opinion). At one stage Die Heuwels Fantasties asked the crowd to hold up their cell phones. It was an awesome sight. I snapped this photo of the crowd at last night’s concert and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 22nd of May 2011.

Yesterday a photo featuring Mr Cat and the Jackal on stage @ Mokha Rock Lounge was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant.
