Die Heuwels Fantasties – Noordelig
Its hard to believe that the realm of Afrikaans electro music was quite dead at the beginning of 2009, but this has changed significantly since the arrival of Afrikaans electro geniuses Die Heuwels Fantasties. They are definately one of my favorite South African acts. I’ve seen Die Heuwels Fantasties live 3 times this year. The first time was at RAMFest 2010 JHB, the 2nd time was at Oppikoppi Sexy. Crooked. Teeth. and the 3rd time was at Vanfokkingtasties in Hatfield Square in Pretoria. The festive season is around the corner in South Africa. This normally means an abundance of gigs in South Africa, especially along the coastal regions. Die Heuwels Fantasties will be appearing at Soundclash, Sun Coast Casino in Durban on the 3rd of December, at Assembly in Cape Town (with Thieve) on the 4th of December, at Menlyn Piazza in Pretoria (with aKING and Die Tuindwergies) on the 10th of December, at Ntida winefarm (for an acoustic show) on the 11th of December, at the Vereeniging Barnyard with Jack Parow on the 16th of December and at Margate Main Beach in Kwazulu Natal on the 18th of December. Yesterday Die Heuwels Fantasties released their video for their song Noordelig. The song was released on their self-titled debut album in 2009. The video is absolutely brilliant. The amazing animators and illustrators at AM I Collective in Cape Town worked hard on this for the past 8 months. Die Heuwels Fantasties are urged to look out for the upcoming graphic novel and feature film (according to comments left on the Youtube video). The video for Noordelig was produced by Ruan Vermeulen.
This is the music video for Noordelig:

The previous song featured on this blog was the video for Jack Parow feat Die Heuwels Fantasties – Tussen Stasies (my favorite Afrikaans song of 2010).
