Great News for fans of Die Heuwels Fantasties! The Afrikaans boys from Bellville will be releasing a third album soon! If you ask me it’s about time! It will be interesting to hear how their follow up to Wilder as Die Wildtuin sounds like.
The third album will be called “Alles Wat Mal Is” (translated as “Everything’s Crazy”) and will be on music store shelves in November 2012. I’m pretty sure that many of you reading this post are quite excited to hear the new album by Die Heuwels Fantasties.
The band is describing the album as “a good hybrid between the previous two albums”. Die Heuwels Fantasties rented a house in Hout Bay for three months to write and record the album. Pierre Greeff and Hunter Kennedy wrote the lyrics and together with Fred den Hartog they wrote the music. Fred is also doing all the programming during the production phase. Afterwards they recorded violins, accordion, saxophone and piano with some friends in Stellenbosch. Johnny de Ridder is currently busy mixing the tracks and adding his production magic at his studio.
In case you forgot, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Wilder as die Wildtuin both reached Gold Status in sales. They’ve also won three Ghoema Awards and one Huisgenoot Tempo Award in 2012. They recently also walked away with a Bokkie Award for Best Alternative Song of the Year for their collaboration with Coenie de Villiers, “Wonder bo Wonder”. Die Heuwels Fantasties also received a SAMA nomination for Best Alternative Album and three MK Award nominations in 2012.
Their first hit off the album, Beloofde Land, already has the airwaves buzzing country-wide, you can listen to it here. A digital version of ‘Alles wat Mal is’ will be available for pre-order on the Suprashop website. The single, ‘Beloofde Land’, will be available for free download with each order placed for the third album.
If you’re in the mood to see Die Heuwels Fantasties live, you can catch them at the following venues:
- 27 October: Oktoberfees, Kraaifontein
