Edinburgh Castle is located in the Scottish city of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. There has been a royal castle on this city since the 12th Century AD, although evidence suggests that this site has been inhabited by humans since the 9th century BC. The nature of the early settlement is unclear though. St. Margaret’s Chapel (the oldest surviving building in Scotland, dating back to the 12th Century AD), the Scottish National War Memorial and National War Museum of Scotland is located on the site. The Royal Palace and Great Hall at Edinburgh Castle date back to the 16th Century AD though. I have not visited this site or the city, but I would love to one day. This photo of Edinburgh Castle has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 30th of October 2010.
