Estádio do Maracanã

Estádio do Maracanã (also referred to as “Maracanã Stadium”) is located in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The original stadium was built from 1948 to 1950. In 2007 the Estádio do Maracanã was renovated. In 1950 the stadium hosted the FIFA World Cup final. Over 199,000 people attended the match. The stadium now has a seating capacity of 82,238 (making it the largest stadium in Brazil). The stadium is closed for 2010 for renovations to increase the seating capacity to 90,000.
