Francois van Coke on stage @ Arcade Empire
On Friday night I made my way to the new Arcade Empire venue at 265 The Highway Street in Equestria (In Pretoria East) to catch a few local bands live. It was a free show and the venue was packed to the max to see Wrestlerish, Isochronous, Taxi Violence and Van Coke Kartel.
Van Coke Kartel were the last band to perform on the evening and they came to the party (as they always do). The crowd got a little intense. There was a barrier holding back the crowd that decided to break in front of the stage (which already started crumbling during the Taxi Violence set). Every time the mosh pit decided to swing to the stage’s side, you’d see people in the front hovering over the stage. To be honest I’ve never seen something like it before. It was definitely one of the most memorable indoor gigs that I’ve ever had the privilege of attending.
The 1400+ strong crowd delivered an excellent sing-a-long version of “Tot Die Son Uitkom” at one stage. It was beautiful. I snapped this photo of Francois Van Coke of Van Coke Kartel on stage on Friday night and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 27th of July 2012.
Francois Van Coke loved this photo so much, he changed his profile pic on Facebook to this one (much to my surprise). Yesterday a photo featuring Flash Republic on stage @ Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out.
