Francois van Coke on stage at Arcade Empire
In middle October I made my way to Arcade Empire to catch Van Coke Kartel live. After watching Coax (Jacques Moolman’s side project) and Feed The Wolf, the crowd were blown away by one of the best live performances that they’ve seen in 2013. Van Coke Kartel played an energetic set, featuring many of the new songs off their “Bloed, Sweet en Trane” album. I was particularly blown away by “Moregloed” and “Here Man”. Over the last month or so, these songs have grown to be two of my personal favorites of the year.
Arcade Empire’s sound and lighting during the show was brilliant. I was pleased because I was able to get some of the best snaps of Van Coke Kartel in 2013, despite the fact that I felt the brunt of the brutal mosh pit that was happening behind me, Christelle and Ewald. I have to say that vibe was one of the better ones that I’ve experienced at a live show this year. I snapped this photo of Van Coke Kartel frontman Francois van Coke during their performance and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for Friday the 15th of November 2013.
