Friday Loud: Foo Fighters – White Limo
Today’s Friday Loud tune comes to you from the Foo Fighters. “White Limo” was released in 2011 on their “Wasting Light” album. When the band were recording this album, Dave Grohl’s garage was equipped with microphones, sound baffles on the garage door and behind the drums to prevent sound leakings and a carpet under the drum kit to make it sound less “loud and bright”. The album was produced by Butch Vig (who was also responsible for Nirvana’s “Nevermind” album).
The album was a huge success. It made its debut at number one in eleven countries and it received positive reviews from most music critics (who complimented its production and the band’s songwriting). In 2012, Wasting Light and its songs earned the Foo Fighters five Grammy Awards (including Best Rock Album).
“White Limo” is guaranteed to put you into a good mood on this Friday morning, so make sure that you crank it up loud. Let’s hope this band (whose name should be under “rock ‘n roll” when you look it up in Oxford English dictionary) makes it South Africa in 2014. I’m pretty sure that many of you want them to play a few shows here. I think “White Limo” is the perfect song for those of you who are lucky enough to be working for your last day in 2013.
