Friday Loud: Megadeth – Angry Again
It’s Friday Loud time on Running Wolf’s Rant and today I’m featuring one of my favorite heavy metal songs of the 1990’s by Megadeth. “Angry Again” was released in 1993 on the Last Action Hero soundtrack. The song was written exclusively by lead singer Dave Mustaine for the film and has not appeared on ANY of the band’s studio albums.
When he wrote the song Mustaine (who was a member of Metallica at one stage during his musical career) was angry with his band, promoters, a lot of different parts of the organization and continued having problems with drugs and the culmination of his stress problems inspired him to write it after he got out of rehab.
Last Action Hero was a box office flop (earning only $137 million on a $85 million), but the film has since become a cult classic and its soundtrack is definitely one of the best movie soundtracks of all time. Besides this song by Megadeth songs by AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Def Leppard, Aerosmith and Cypress Hill were also featured on the soundtrack. The music video for “Angry Again” was directed by Wayne Isham (who also directed several other Megadeth videos) and received extended airplay on MTV.
I still remember popping the Last Action Hero soundtrack tape into my tapedeck when I was in high school and getting completely hooked on it. I consider it one of the soundtracks that I huge influence on the music taste that I have today. I probably wouldn’t have gotten more into Megadeth’s music and other heavy metal bands if I didn’t hear this song.
Some of you might not know this, but Megadeth are still recording music and releasing albums. The band was originally formed in 1983 in Los Angeles, California in the USA and went into hiatus in 2002. They burst back on the scene in 2004. The band has released no less than 14 studio albums (5 of which were released since 2004).
