Up the Creek 2015 promises to be a great festival featuring a cocktail of superb live acts, all day activities and wacky antics at the fantastically original river stage. Leave the gobbledygook of everyday life behind, grab your sunblock, bling bikini (or mankini if that’s your thing), funky lilo and buddy and head on over to the Breede River for the ultimate music and party getaway weekend.
Last week the organizers announced the line-up for 2015 and blew a few sunhats off (even though the festival is still 2 months away). The 2015 line-up includes some of best live acts that South Africa currently has to offer: Zebra & Giraffe, Taxi Violence, Beatenberg , AKING, Dave Ferguson, Bye Beneco, Shortstraw, Hot Water, The Black Cat Bones, The Kiffness, The Ballistics, Stoker, Red Huxley, Scicoustic, Piet Botha & The Lyzyrd Kyngs, Gerald Clark, Mean Black Mamba, Manny Walters, Basson Laubscher, John Wizards, Al Bairre, Christian Tiger School, Gateway Drugs, Manouche, Grassy Spark, Nomadic Orchestra, December Streets, Shaun Jacobs Band, Diamond Thug, Bandelero, Qadasi, Sawagi (from Japan)and Kite Rider. For some off-the-wall fun they’ve also added Laughter Yoga with Kiki Toga and Bitchy Bingo with Mary Scary. 2015 will also be Up the Creek`s 25th birthday and I think we’re going to paint the “town” red.
If you want to rock out in a little more comfort, then the Heartbreak Motel tented accommodation is for you. There are two options of pre-pitched tents, hot showers, toilets, buffet breakfast and other luxuries. For more info and bookings visit www.heartbreakmotel.co.za. Once again Sedgwicks Old Brown will be sharing the warmth and creating a food court like no other. Under their Bedouin you’ll be privy to a comfort and vibe as only Sedgwicks can share. The Cape Town food trucks contingent are journeying up to the Creek to bring you the widest range of delicious food. And in true Sedwicks style it just keeps getting better, your breakfast will be accompanied by live music next year and giveaways will be a plenty. Groking won’t be accepted (when is it ever!?) but you can absolutely bibble away to your hearts` content.
