Glastonbury is one of the biggest festivals in the United Kingdom and Europe. This performing arts festival takes place near Pilton, Somerset in England every year and is best known for its contemporary music, but also for dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and other arts. Glastonbury Festival (commonly referred to as Glasto) was first held in 1970. It has not been held every single year, but has been held more than 20 times. About 150,000 people attend Glastonbury Festival when it staged. Tickets for the 2011 festival sold out in 4 hours. The headlining acts for the 2011 festival were U2, Beyonce Knowles and Coldplay. Glastonbury 2011 also featured appearances by B.B. King, Paolo Ntini, Pendulum, Mumford & Sons, The Naked and Famous, Primal Scream, The Chemical Brothers, Jimmy Eat World, Queens of the Stone Age, Fatboy Slim and a whole bunch of other awesome artists. This is definitely a festival that I want to attend one year. This photo was taken by Matt Cardy and features a portion of the Glastonbury campsite and the pyramid stage at the festival last year.
