Inaugural Bokjol Music Festival gets cancelled

Bokjol Music Festival was supposed to happen on the weekend of the 23rd of September 2016, but it’s not happening anymore.

Today the organizers posted this update on their Facebook page:

It is with great sadness that we have decided to cancel BOKJOL Music Festival due to poor ticket sales despite every effort to ensure a successful event.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused but due to the current economic climate and as responsible event promoters and business owners, there is no other option at this stage. We truly believe in the event and would not want to put on a show that is not up to our standard.

All ticket holders will be given a full refund. These will be processed from Tuesday, 13 September and Nutickets will be in touch directly with all ticket holders for this process.

We appreciated everyone’s support to date, please accept our heartfelt apologies.

This statement is proof that honesty is the best policy when it comes to explaining reasons why music festivals get cancelled.

This is sad news for the SA Music Scene though, the concept was there, the line-up was definitely an awesome one, but sadly this did not translate into ticket sales.

I feel for the guys. It isn’t easy at the moment and I hope people appreciate the honesty.

    • My thoughts exactly, the line-up was actually pretty damn good
