Kenya is definitely one of the African countries that I want to visit one day. This country gained independence from the UK in 1963 and became a republic in 1964. More than 44 million people live here today. Before the country gained independence it was called British East Africa. This country also has two official languages: Swahili and English.
Kenya is well-known for it’s national parks globally. One of the most infamous parks is the Masai Mara reserve. The reserve has an exceptional population of lions, leopards and cheetahs and is well known for the annual migration of zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, and wildebeest to and from the Serengeti every year from July to October (known as the Great Migration). Boston Globe Staff photographer Essdras M Suarez experienced a two week safari in Kenya and Tanzania this year and took this picture featuring a Kenyan Sunset. It has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for today. This is proof that Africa has some of the most spectacular scenery on planet Earth.
