Kobus de Kock Jr on stage @ Pretoria Botanical Gardens
This past weekend Sunday @BaasDeBeer and I made our way to the Pretoria Botanical Gardens in the Eastern Suburbs of Pretoria to catch the Old Mutual Music In the Gardens concert featuring Pretoria based old school blues rock band the Black Cat Bones and Bellville based Afrikaans rapper Jack Parow. The Black Cat Bones were up first at 1 PM yesterday. These Pretoria rockers were recently confirmed for the 2012 edition of Oppikoppi (entitled “Sweet Thing”) and showed the crowd why they are considered by some to be one of the best live acts in the country. At one stage frontman Kobus de Cock Jr went for a wild run through the whole crowd at the concert – almost looking like a metalhead in search of a moshpit (if you ask me).
The band played some decent covers of the Muddy Waters song “Got My Mojo Working” and the Bruce Springsteen / Rage Against the Machine song “The Ghost of Tom Joad”. The Black Cat Bones played one of the best sets I’ve seen them play. I snapped this photo of frontman Kobus de Cock Jr on stage yesterday and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 4th of June 2012.
Yesterday a photo featuring the Stormers vs Bulls @ Loftus Versfeld in 2012 was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out.
