KONGOS on stage @ Arcade Empire
At the end of January KONGOS played a gig at Arcade Empire in Pretoria with The Newspapers, Machineri and Die Tuindwergies. It was one of the most memorable shows of 2012. The aircon stopped working in the venue and it got extremely hot inside during the KONGOS set. The energy was electric. Tickets to the show sold out before the doors opened that night. It was insane. I ended up watching the KONGOS 4 times on their tour of South Africa. This was the 2nd time I saw them live. And the Pretoria crowd were not disappointed, despite the intense heat.
For those of you who missed them, don’t despair, they’re coming back to SA again. Yes, the KONGOS be playing at Oppikoppi Sweet Thing and One Night in Cape Town in August of this year. They already announced this during their set at Hatfield Carnival this year.
I snapped this photo of the KONGOS performing at Arcade Empire on that memorable night and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 16th of July 2012. In case you did not know, Arcade Empire will be opening their new venue this coming weekend Friday (the 20th of July 2012) at 265 Highway Street. The first four bands that will perform at the new venue will be Van Coke Kartel, Isochronous, Wrestlerish and Taxi Violence (and it’s a free show), so don’t miss out!
Yesterday a photo featuring Pieter de Jager on stage @ Firkin, Centurion was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out. Watch this space for daily updates on this blog in the Photography and Babes category.
