Great news music fans! Legendary American Rock act, Live, announced a few days ago that they will play South Africa as part of their reunion tour in November 2017. Presented by AMP Events, the show promises to feature all the highlights from the band’s incredible 25 year repertoire.

Tickets went on sale yesterday on Computicket and tickets have been selling like hot cakes.  The Pretoria show has ALREADY sold out. Let’s hope that the organizers add more shows…

Live will be the first international musical act to grace the brand-new stage at the opening of Sun International’s Sun Arena at Time Square Casino (located at Menlyn Maine in Pretoria).  They’ll perform there on 10 November and Cape Town’s Grand Arena on 7 November.

“Fans of Live have always shown incredible support when this band tours SA” says AMP CEO Andy Mac “We saw all tickets sell-out in record time when their lead singer Ed Kowalczyk toured Joburg and Cape Town in 2015 for the Throwing Copper Anniversary Tour. We expect the same to happen for this reunion tour. Bands with a great legacy, such as Live, are the reason I started AMP Events and I can’t wait to see these guys rock out on stage”.

The original line-up of Live, consisting of Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer(bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion) recently reunited for this worldwide tour.

2017 will mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album Mental Jewellery (released December 31, 1991). The multi-platinum band from Pennsylvania have sold over 22 million albums worldwide and earned two number one albums (1994’s Throwing Copper and 1997’s Secret Samadhi). Their catalog is filled with such musical gems as “Lightning Crashes,” “I Alone,” “All Over You,” and “Lakini’s Juice,” which live on today as rock radio classics.

The original line-up of Live performed their last show in July 2009 before going off in different directions. Rediscovering their friendship has healed old differences, setting the stage for the four members to come together to make music again.

I’m glad that they’re making their way to South Africa, I missed them every single time they toured here and I really don’t want to miss their performance at the Sun Arena (which is only a few kilometres down the road from me). Maybe I should beg someone for tickets…

UPDATE: AMP Events have announced this morning that Live will play another show at the Sun Arena at Times Square (at Menlyn Maine) on the 11th of November. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (the 31st of May 2017) on Computicket.
