Louisville is located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The first European settlement in the vicinity of modern-day Louisville was on Corn Island in 1778 by Colonel George Rogers Clark (who’s credited as the founder of Louisville). Several landmarks in the community are named after him. The town of Louisville was founded in 1780. Louisville is named after King Louis XVI of France.
