Fans of SA Music will be aware that Converse started its quest to uncover South Africa’s finest unsigned talent on Facebook by encouraging bands to Get Out of the Garage on the 22nd of June 2012. Entrants stood a chance win the honor of a performance at London’s iconic 100 Club.
During the course of the campaign 138 acts submitted their diverse offerings via Converse’s Facebook page and more than 30,000 new fans joined the community. Close to 3,000 votes were cast for South Africa’s hottest up and coming musos.
10 finalists were announced in the competition in the middle of July: Goodnight Wembley (from Cape Town, Rock), IScream and the Chocolate Stix (From Cape Town, Rock), Matthew Mole (from Cape Town, Folk & Electric), Nakhane Toure (from Johannesburg, Folk & Rock), North of Winter (Pretoria, Rock), Savage Lucy (Johannesburg, Metal, Rock & Blues), Shotgun Tori (Johannesburg, Indie & Folk), Skin2Soul (Johannesburg, Afro, Kwaito & Regaae), Swart (Johannesburg, Afrikaans Rock) and The Kiffness (Cape Town, Electronic).
Yesterday it was announced that Matthew Mole is the winner of the 2012 Converse #Play100Club Campaign. Matthew will Get Out of the Garage next month as he heads to London to introduce his unique brand of folk to the rest of the world by performing live at the 100 Club.
A while ago my good friend @SniperMime introduced me to Matthew Mole’s music and I must say that I was pretty stunned. He truly is a very talented individual.
Matthew won the contest with the song titled ‘You and Your Crown’. Have a listen to it below, you’re bound to be blown away:

Keep your eyes peeled on the Converse Facebook page for more info on Matthew’s international adventure, which kicks off in September. You can follow Matthew on Twitter via @MatthewJMole or check him out on Facebook. He also has a Tumblr account at http://matthewmole.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Matthew Mole on winning this contest and wish him all the best with his upcoming performance at the 100 Club in London next month. I’m pretty sure that he’ll be doing South Africa proud with this.
