Good news for Comic Book film fans. The fifth X-Men film is coming. X-Men: First Class will be released in June 2011 in the United States. The film is a prequel to the first X-Men film. The movie is directed by Matthew Vaughn (who directed the 2010 film Kick-Ass in 2010, the 2007 film Stardust and the 2004 film Layer Cake). The film will feature a brand new X-Men cast. Michael Fassbender is cast in the role of Erik Lensherr and James McAvoy is cast in the role of Professor Charles Xavier. The film also features appearances by Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon, Zoë Kravitz, Jason Flemyng, Oliver Platt and others. X-Men: First Class plays off in 1963. Charles Xavier starts up his school and later a team, for humans with superhuman abilities. Among them is Erik Lensherr, his best friend and future nemesis. The film has an estimated budget of $120 million. The film was shot in locations in the United States and the United Kingdom. 20th Century Fox studios envisions this film as the first in a new X-Men trilogy. I’m looking forward to seeing this film. I just hope this isn’t a watered down version of to the 4 previous X-Men films. I’m unsure on which date this film will be released in South Africa, but I’ll definitely make my way to the cinema when its out on circuit.
