Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie looks pretty kief in my books

Great news! Neill Blomkamp (the director that brought us District 9 and Elysium) will be bringing us another awesome film in 2015, Chappie. In case you were wondering, it’s not a film about the famous South African bubblegum brand, Chappie’s, it’s actually a science fiction movie about a robot.

Every child comes into the world full of promise and none more so than Chappie. This robot child (who has the ability to think and feel for himself) is gifted, special and he’s a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings. Some of it will be good, some of it will be bad and he will have to rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. Chappie tells us his life story and will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.

Beside directing the film, Blomkamp also co-wrote the film with Terri Hatchell. Chappie will feature appearances by Hugh Jackman, Sharlto Copley (who starred in first two films that Blomkamp directed and The A-Team, Sigourney Weaver, Dev Patel, Jose Pablo Cantillo & Ninja and Yolandi Visser (from Die Antwoord). Like District 9, this film was shot in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This looks like it’s got a lot of potential. This third film by Neill Blomkamp might just be one of the biggest films of 2015. Do you agree or disagree with me? Leave a comment and let me know. Feedback is appreciated and welcome here.
