So, you are not attending Oppikoppi Sweet Thing this year? Well, you can still catch all the action from Oppikoppi’s Main Stages if you join the virtual Golden Circle via their online Google+ Hangout. Yes, you’ll be able to watch lots of live content.
Oppikoppi has become one of South Africa’s most renowned music festivals and this year they will reach out to a global audience to promote local talent and give fans who can’t make it to the event the chance to experience the atmosphere and connect directly with performing musicians. Nogal kief ne?
Oppikoppi has always prided itself on being at the forefront of technology, bringing music lovers the best local and international acts. This year Oppikoppi love is spreading even further, thanks to Google+ and YouTube.
From the 25th of July fans have already tuned in for Hangouts on Air with some of their favourite artists like Jack Parow, aKING and Enter Shikari. At the festival itself, fans all over the world will be able to tune in to daily Hangout shows and watch live streams of Oppikoppi’s two main stages via the Oppikoppi Google+ Page.
This will be hosted by Rolling Stone Magazine’s own Miles Keylock, Diane Coetzer and Anton Marshall, and joined by radio diva, Michelle Constant, the Hangouts will feature Oppikoppi artists such as AKA, Shadowclub, BLK JKS, The KONGOS, Seether and Vusi Mahlasela. The line-up for live streamed shows promises about 20 hours of OppiKoppi goodness, including the complete performances of HHP, aKING, Vusi Mahlasela and many other artists.
Dedicated YouTube crews at the event will also record all the best performances, stage dives and ‘fan’-demonium.’ Fans of Oppikoppi who won’t be able to make it should check out the daily uploads on Oppikoppi’s brand new YouTube channel.
A number of artists have already embraced Google+, and you can now follow Enter Shikari, Seether and Jack Parow on the platform. If you want to get more into the music you love, Google+ is the place to do it.

- Enter your Details Here.
- Sign up on Google+. If you have a Google or Gmail account, just use that to sign up, or create a new account in a few minutes.
- Start following Oppikoppi and Rolling Stone to make sure you stay up to date.
- Install the Google Voice and Video Plugin (it’s a small file)
- Make sure you have a solid internet connection and a working webcam
- Tell your friends to watch in envy on Oppikoppi’s YouTube channel.
