Park Acoutics featuring Tidal Waves and more coming soon!

Park Acoustics 27 January 2013 Park Acoutics featuring Tidal Waves and more coming soon!Great news for Pretoria music fans! The first Park Acoustics of 2013 is coming on Sunday the 27th of January! The show will take place at Fort Schanskop at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria.

This edition of Park Acoustics is brought to you by Jack Daniels and will feature appearances by Alan! Lets move on, Black Handed Kites, Rambling Bones, Short Straw  and Tidal Waves.

In case you were wondering Alan! Lets Move On are a Kick-your-teeth-in Electro Pop / Rock band from Pretoria and have been around for the last few years, Black Handed Kites are an entertaining folk duo, Rambling Bones are a Soul Trash and Misfit folk duo from Jozi, Short Straw are an Energetic Trash Folk act from Cape Town and Tidal Waves are an original Reggae / Blues / Rock / Ska / Mbaqanga / Maskandi band that needs no introduction. This line-up is pretty epic and you should not miss this one, if you ask me.

Besides the bands, the Sunset Comedy Stage will once again feature appearances by excellent comedians. This time Park Acoustics attendees will have their funny bones tickled by Warren Robertson, Alfred Adriaan, Chris Mapane and Paul Snodgrass. It’s an excellent way to end a long day choc-a-block full of good tunes.

BraaiBoy will also be back at the first Park Acoustics of 2013! Due to space constraints and health & safety to others the organizers have had to stop people from bringing in their own braai, gas and potjie equipment. Last year Park Acoustics and BraaiBoy joined forces and now provide music lovers with a professional braai facility all under the watchful eye of BraaiBoy. BraaiBoy makes sure that the fire is always hot, offers braaing tips and some braai recipes. So, the point is, bring some meat along and you’ll be able to have some fun in the sun with BraaiBoy!

Also keep a watch out for the PostBox stand. This arts and culture initiative aims to provide all kinds of creatives with a platform to feature their art, design, photography, graffiti, music, film, animation, poetry, dance, fashion, architecture and anything else that qualifies as creative and original. Make an effort and check out PostBox at Park Acoustics!

HotBox Express will be offering a bus shuttle service during the day. The departure station is at the bottom of the hill at the Voortrekker Monument picnic parking area. The shuttle will leave every 10 minutes from 10 AM to 3 PM. It will break for 40 minutes and then will start again at 15:40 for the descent. The last bus down the hill from Fort Schanskop will be at 19:30.

Gates open at 10 AM on the day and the first act is on stage at 11 AM. Tickets cost R70 online at Ticketbreak or R80 at the gate. Children under 6 can enter for free. Parking costs R10 a vehicle (payable at the Voortrekker Monument gate).

It has become customary to watch the sun set after each Park Acoustics show from the highest point at Fort Schanskop. Stay till 7 PM to catch one of the most beautiful sunsets in Pretoria.

This video clip was taken at the last Park Acoustics of 2012 (which featured appearances by Fokofpolisiekar, Matthew Mole and others). The vibe was bloody awesome on the day and I think this clip captures it brilliantly

Chances are that this video clip has you pretty amped up for the show! See you at Park Acoustics on the 27th of January 2013! It’s going to be a GOOD one. For more information check out the Event Page on Facebook or follow @parkacoustics on Twitter.
