Albert Einstein (the famous German theoretical physicist) was born in 1879 in Ulm, Germany. He is often regarded as the father of modern physics. During the course of his life he developed the theory of general relativity. Einstein became a citizen of the USA in 1940 after leaving Nazi Germany in 1933. Arthur Sasse took this photo of Albert Einstein depicted him with his tongue out in 1951. He was trying to persuade Einstein to smile for the camera, but he had smiled for many photographers on that day (which was his 72nd birthday) – Einstein stuck out his tongue instead.
Einstein had enjoyed this photo so much. He requested nine copies for personal use (one of which he signed for a reporter). In June 2009 the original signed photograph was sold for over $74,000 at an auction. this photo changed the way history looked at Einstein. The image humanizes a man known mainly for his brilliance. Because of this photo, Einstein’s name has become synonymous not only with “genius,” but also with “wacky genius”. Einstein died in 1955. This photo has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 17th of June 2012.
