Yesterday (the 30th of March 2012) was National Cleavage Day in South Africa. The topic was highly popular on South African Social Networks. Facebook was fairly quiet, but Twitter with abuzz with the #NationalCleavageDay hashtag. AXE South Africa ran a competition yesterday via their social channels on Facebook and Twitter (@AXE_SA) in which the prize for the best cleavage was the title of AXE of the Golden Globes 2012 and R5000 cash.
For those of you who did not know, National Cleavage Day is an annual celebration held in either March or April and is sponsored by the brassiere marketer Wonderbra. National Cleavage Day was started in 2002 and held at the beginning of April every year. Wonderbra together with the Cosmopolitan magazine and 5FM (a SABC radio station mainly based in Johannesburg) sponsored the National Cleavage Day. National Cleavage Day was started according to a design to solemnise women’s independence and power in all facets of life, from their careers to their relationships to their own destiny.
