Planet Joy on stage @ Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens
On the 21st of July (last week Saturday) I made my way to the stunning Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Johannesburg for another edition of Old Mutual Music in the Gardens. It was the first time that I attended an event at this venue.
The first act of the day was Planet Joy. For those of you who did not know, Planet Joy are a Johannesburg based Alternative Rock band. They’ve been making waves in the industry since last year. The band members are Marthinus Kirsten, Stefan du Randt, Kruger van Deventer and Kiki Kooiman. I must say that I quite enjoy their different style of rock. They only played a 20 minute set at Old Mutual Music in the Gardens, but they definitely made the most of that. Flash Republic and Shadowclub also played at the venue on the day.
Planet Joy’s first album is called ‘The Radiant Point’ and was released in the winter of 2011. It’s available to download for free on Planet Joy’s Boom.fm and Bandcamp profiles. Planet Joy has also been confirmed for this year’s Oppikoppi festival. If you are going to be there, be sure to check them out.
I snapped this photo of Planet Joy performing at Old Mutual Music in the Gardens on the day and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 28th of July 2012.
Yesterday a photo featuring Francois van Coke on stage @ Arcade Empire was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out. Watch this space for daily updates on this blog in the Photography and Babes category.
