Yesterday I made my way to Fort Schanskop (near the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria). I was there to attend another edition of Park Acoustics. This edition of Park Acoustics featured Jack Hammer, Piet Botha, The Howlin’ Shibanski and The Black Cat Bones. It was a fun filled day packed with good tunes and chilled out Sunday vibes.
In case you didn’t know, Fort Schanskop was designed by Germans and completed in 1897. It was used by the Boers during the Anglo-Boer War to defend Pretoria from the British. The British started occupying Pretoria in 1900 and occupied this fort. The fort was returned to the South African Union Government in 1922 and was used by the Defence Force for signalling and reconnaissance purposes only. Nowadays its a South African National Monument and the perfect venue for Park Acoustics. Quite interesting if you ask me.
The organizers of Park Acoustics have claimed that Fort Schanskop has some of the best Pretoria sunsets and I thought that I’d see if they knew what they were talking about. They were not kidding at all. I snapped this photo of the Pretoria Sunset from Fort Schanskop yesterday and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 30th of July 2012.
Yesterday a photo featuring Taxi Violence on stage @ Arcade Empire was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out. Watch this space for daily updates on this blog in the Photography and Babes category.
