Johannesburg based psychedlic rock band, The Tazers have been making waves in the SA Music Scene over the last few years and are one of the artists who will be performing at Mieliepop 2017. They are definitely one of the artists that I know Henno doesn’t want to miss this year.
I recently had a chat to the band about Mieliepop and a few other things. This is what they had to say:
The Tazers are launching Love Machine the 27th of February. What can we expect?
We’ve had an organic approach to this EP regarding songwriting. Everyone brought a song to the table from the beginning, and through this we felt more inspired which naturally progressed into writing more songs. The new tunes are more provocative, much like Shake It but with a psychedelic flair.
Having The Tazers on a line up has become synonymous with a good jol. Which bands has so far been your favourite sharing a line up with?
Queens of the Stone Age, Cage The Elephant, King Gizzard, Black Math and Hanni El Khatib.
When it comes to visual and gig/band posters you guys seem to have the best in the industry on your side. How big of a say if any do you get to have when it comes to this?
We source our own designers and conceptualise most of the artworks you see from our side, so we have full control of the outcome. Shoutout to Elio the Illustrator and Llewellyn Van Eeden for always having our back and turning our concepts into fully fledged designs.
What is on your Mieliepop essential packing list?
Condoms, Jager, whiskey, beer and more condoms, in that order.
Seeing as Jagermeister is the sponsoring Mieliepop how do you prefer yours? Bombed or straight up?
Straight up fuckin’ cold. There’s no question about that.
I’d like to thank The Tazers for this interview and I wish them all of the best with their future musical ventures. Have a listen to their latest single “Shake It” below, it will make love to your eardrums:
